If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God. Set your affections on things which are above, and not on things which are on the earth. (a)
Colossians 3:1-2 (GNV Translation Ed. 1599)

Good morning in the name of Jesus

Today, we read that we are to seek, all things that are in line with God’s righteousness. Once one has come to the knowledge of Christ and how God’s righteousness is bestowed upon us by His sacrifice, we are then to begin to live the way that is pleasing to our Creator. Our words should be edifying in all that we speak upon. Our actions should be based on compassion and love. Our desire in life is to lead a life that by example shows how God’s people are to live, and in essence is assisting in the great commission by making disciples of all people. Remember friends, actions do speak louder than words.

Both the Apostles James and Paul speak on this topic. The former admonishes us about our speech, and how with one mouth we should not use the same to both bless and curse. As he had written, does the same spring bring forth both sweet water and bitter? The latter instructs us to act, and think in a manner that closely resembles our Father, this is to say to put to death the lusts of the flesh and put on the breastplate of righteousness. (b)

Likewise did the Prophet Isaiah write that the ways of God are higher than the ways of man, and so, as such, we must seek those ways (c)

(a) Read Ephesians 4:23-24
(b) Read Ephesians 6:13-17
(c) Isaiah 55:6-9
