For (that that was impossible to the Law, inasmuch as it was weak, because of the flesh) God sending his own Son, in the similitude of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh,
Romans 8:3 (GNV Translation Ed. 1599)
A bit of backtracking here today is needed. First we must establish, what is the Law as established by God. Many scholars, basically say that the Law is for the most part the commandments as given unto Moses by God. There is validity to this statement, yet it should be noted that Christ had stated that all the laws of God and the prophets hinged on two things: (a)
1) Love the Lord thy God
2) Love thy neighbors as you love yourself.
These two commandments were the base upon which God chose to build His righteousness. Now being put into the perspective, one can see as to why, the Law could not establish righteousness in man. For man is corrupted through sin, and as such is incapable of living totally under just these two simple commands. Hence the need for a Savior, God in the flesh, who knew no sin became the atonement of sin for us. Therefore, the righteousness of God is now imputed unto us through the sacrifice of Jesus. Friends He paid our debt in full.
This is the gift from God, that extends mercy and grace to us. That He would spare not His only Son, so that we might be spared from the wages of sin, and the condemnation of the Law, of those two commands, which flesh could not fulfill to achieve righteousness on our own accord.
You are urged, and exhorted, to seek out and accept God’s grace as freely given to you.
Pray with me friends:
Heavenly Father, I come to you this day to admit that I am indeed a sinner, and am under the curse of sin, and the Law. I ask you to forgive my sins, and freely accept your offer of grace as provided by you by the sacrifice of Your Son Jesus Christ, who died for me, that I might live. I accept Jesus as my Savior, and ask Him to enter into me, that I might receive adoption into your family. Amen.
Friends if you’ve just prayed and accepted God’s offer of grace and mercy, you’ve just made the greatest choice of your life! The next step is find a church, or even a small study group, that will help you, teach you, and support you as you grow in God’s family.
The angels rejoice as another sinner has come to the cross at Calvary, and has now been washed clean in the blood of Jesus Christ. Welcome brothers and sisters!
