God forbid: yea, let God be true, and every man a liar, as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, and overcome, when thou art judged. Now if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? is God unrighteous which punisheth? (I speak as a man.) God forbid: (else how shall God judge the world?) For if the verity of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory, why am I yet condemned as a sinner? And (as we are blamed, and as some affirm, that we say) why do we not evil, that good may come thereof? whose damnation is just. What then? are we more excellent? No, in no wise: for we have already proved, that all, both Jews and Gentiles are under sin,  As it is written, There is none righteous no not one. There is none that understandeth: there is none that seeketh God. They have all gone out of the way: they have been made altogether unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no not one. (a)
Romans 3:4-12 (GNV Translation)

But we have all been as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness is as filthy cloths, and we all do fade like a leaf, and our iniquities like the wind have taken us away.
Isaiah 64:6 (GNV Translation)

Greetings friends in the name of our risen Savior Christ Jesus

Continuing on with yesterday’s post, we touched on the fact that the idea of salvation through works, is not going to get you into eternal salvation.  Even our best endeavors at being righteous are nothing more than rags in the eyes of God.  Does He approve of those doing good works, certainly yes, however, His desire is for you to do them in His name, and not our own. Some folks do good works, and deeds as to show their prominence, to inflate their own stature. Such are viewed with disdain, for God dislikes a boaster.  Others do so, to work their way into heaven, and as has been stated previously, this likewise will not get you into heaven. (b)

The way to the Father is through Jesus Christ. Again, it is suggested strongly, that you read for yourselves, the Gospels. This writer can only point you in the right direction, but cannot make you believe. And while we are instructed by our Savior to make disciples of all men, it is necessary for those to believe in Him, who sent Him. As the scriptures have said,  without faith, it is impossible to please God and that it is important to believe that HE IS for He rewards those who diligently seek Him. (c) For that to happen, you the reader must make a choice; Do you believe or not believe, likewise if you believe, will you follow, or turn away? (d)

We end today’s comments with the following:

Now when Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I, the son of man, am? And they said, Some say, John Baptist: and some, Elijah: and others, Jeremiah, or one of the Prophets. He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am?Then Simon Peter answered, and said, Thou art that Christ, the son of the living God. And Jesus answered, and said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon, the son of Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 16:13-17
