Word of God
But he replied and said, "It is written, 'It is not by bread alone that a man lives, except by every word that issues from the mouth of God

33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. 34 Then when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

Brethren:

We’ve have read and study a similar account of this passage in the Gospel of Matthew (Read Matthew 22:36-40). In both instances this holds true; that is to say that the two greatest commandments are to love the Lord God and to love each other. What more could a man expect of him and more importantly that he should be called to do? Showing the love of God by being His proxy here on this temporal plane is not only pleasing to our Creator, but likewise shows that we give Him all the glory, yet shows our love for Him. For what servant would take joy in serving a harsh master to do His bidding if it meant doing what one knows is wrong. Would it not be out of fear, (and I do not refer to the reverent fear of God in this instance), but the fear of harsh retribution if we should fail to carry out his assigments to us? Additionally, even when we do fall short of the mark set before us, HE is quick to forgive us, a harsher task master would hardly be so loving and understanding.

Friends let us look towards the love of our Creator for us, and emulate it towards each other. Place the Lord God first in your line of sight. Love Him, serve Him with all joy, and reverence. Also take heed that the world watches our actions. As the old saying goes actions speak louder than words, so let our love be a love in action.

The Apostle Paul said it best when he wrote that if had not love (some translations use the word charity) then he is nothing but a brass cymble clanging loudly for no purpose. (Read 1 Corinthians chapter 13) - Dr. RVZ
