Word of God
But he answering, said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
The Gospel According to Matthew 4:4

Psalm 12:3-4
Prefaced & Edited by Doktor Riktor Von Zhades

3 The Lord cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 4 Which have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own; who is Lord over us?

Brethren:

These are those that would seek advantage through the persuasion of their words. They practice deceit, and their lips utter falsehoods. Likewise they seek the approval of men, so that they might be esteemed in the the eyes of the world; indeed who would be Lord over them, when they have man to raise them up as if they themselves were gods?

But the Godly man is not so; he is humble, careful in his words and thoughtful in all his actions. His mind is one with the Creator in so far as to bring glory to the latter. As such the Creator shall lift him up to be the example of justice and mercy for all to see. - Dr. Riktor Von Zhades - Disciple of Christ

Flattery plays on the ego and especially influences people who want to appear important (Read Jude verse 11). You can flatter yourself and others. Of course, what the lips speak comes from the heart (Read Matthew 12:33-37), and that’s why David accuses these liars of duplicity, which is a divided heart (literally “a heart and a heart”). This is the opposite of the “perfect heart,” total loyalty to God and His truth (Read Psalm 86:11; 1 Chronicles 12:33, 38; Romans 16:17-18).

Boastful speech that impresses people by its oratory and vocabulary. “Great swelling words” is the phrase used in 2 Peter 2:18 and Jude verse16; Daniel 7:20, 25) and John (Read Revelation 13:2, 5) both tell us that the Antichrist[and his minions] will speak in this way and rule the world. This kind of speech is motivated by pride and is used by people who think they’re in control and will never need to answer to anybody, including the Lord. Their lips are their own, and they can speak just as they please.” - Warren Weirsbe - American pastor and theologian
