3 This thing
is the worst among all things, that be done under the sun, that the
same thing befall to all people; yea, the hearts of the sons and
daughters of men be filled with malice and despising during their
lives; and then after these things, they go down to Sheol. 4 But for
everyone who liveth, there is still hope; yea, a living dog is better
than a dead lion.
The Book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 9:3-4
Brethren:
Verse 3
This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event to all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead. In outward things, as riches and poverty, sickness and health, there is no difference between the godly and the wicked but the difference is that the godly are assured by faith of God's favour and assistance.

Verse 4
While a man lives he hopes to amend,
and he hopes to have a better lot; and thus life is spent, hoping to
grow better, and hoping to get more. The Vulgate has, "There is
none that shall live always, nor has any hope of such a thing."
Perhaps the best translation is the following: "What, therefore,
is to be chosen? In him that is living there is hope." Then
choose that eternal life which thou hopest to possess.
